Our vision

We believe in a region with a sustainable economy, where the manufacturing industry is visible.

Where people consciously choose home-grown products that are made with attention to sustainability and creativity or craftsmanship. Where consumers and companies buy locally and people visiting the city also choose to do so. In this way, money circulates regionally and the local economy strengthens.

How do we contribute to this?
With ‘Amsterdam Made’ and ‘Locally Made’ we draw attention to local, sustainable companies and their makers. We give them exposure in various ways: we tell their stories, show their products on our website and arrange visibility in the media via our partners. We also carry the Amsterdam Made & Locally Made quality marks; quality labels for local and sustainable products, so that they are easier to find and recognize. In this way we stimulate consumer awareness so they will choose a more responsible lifestyle and adopt the buy-local mentality. We also offer our makers a network in which knowledge can be shared and collaborations are encouraged.

Quality marks
The Amsterdam Made quality mark was developed at the request of the municipality of Amsterdam with the aim of stimulating the growth and sustainability of the local manufacturing industry. In November 2015, the first quality marks were awarded by Kajsa Ollongren to, among others, Brouwerij ‘t IJ, Kesbeke, Brandt & Levi and Roetz-Bikes. Companies that receive the quality mark produce within our national borders. Their core values are sustainability, creativity or craftsmanship. The purpose of the Amsterdam Made Quality Mark is to stimulate the growth and sustainability of the local manufacturing industry. The Locally Made quality mark was developed in 2023 to continue the positive impact of Amsterdam Made in the rest of The Netherlands. Find out more about the quality marks here.
